Taking a Pause

Today marks the start of an annual ritual for me, my summer break for ten days of mental and physical relaxation, plus several periods of Deep Work.

Deep Work is capitalized for it’s the name of a new favorite book, and the name of what I’ve done during this week for the last twenty five years without knowing it.

In his new book Deep Work, author Cal Newport brings forward a well researched and clear argument: we have collectively lost the ability to have deep, uninterrupted, and significantly productive periods of time in our life while at the same time that type of work is more valuable than ever.

During the next ten days I’ll be with paper and pen only, outlining business models and letting my brain take a rest between thought sessions.

Seek out the book or listen to a podcast on the subject.

See ya in a week and a half.
